A fire inspector has the most important task of investigating buildings to verify that all the federal, state, and local fire regulations are being followed. A person who has completed their fire inspector training knows how to test fire safety equipment and ensure that all the fire extinguishers are in working condition. While most of the inspectors work for the local and state governments, some of these might also work for insurance companies.
Fire inspectors employ themselves on a full-time basis, primarily during business hours. Their work is split between completing investigations in the field or compiling reports in an office setting. Becoming a fire inspector
Earn a degree
Most of the employers need to have a high school diploma and some form of formal training and experience. Programs usually cover leadership and management techniques that are needed to become a good fireman. Since some of them also include emergency medical services, you need to be highly serious about it.
Gain work experience
Many fire departments provide on-job training, but it is better to have some before you get into it. Fire inspectors should look for jobs that give experience handling one or more of these duties. An aspiring ire inspector can also volunteer for this form of work while in school.
Complete academy training
When taking the fire officer II courses, you need to complete all forms of inspection training at a fire academy.
